Silent Hill Trademark Renewal Hints At Franchise Return

The often fruitless desire for more Silent Hill games simply refuses to abate. In a new update from Reddit (thanks, GoNintendo), publisher Konami has filed trademark renewals for the survival horror franchise.

This may be a hint of things to come, but we’d recommend keeping your expectations in check. Trademark renewals are nothing new, and with Silent Hill being one of Konami’s biggest franchises it’s unlikely it’d let something like this slip.

Then again, we’re optimists here at Nintendo Life, so we’d like to think that a new Silent Hill game is simmering away, just waiting for that big reveal. Of course, whether it comes to Switch is another conversation entirely, but let’s save that for another day.

At the time of writing, the website is still displaying a tweet from Masahiro Ito lamenting the design of Silent Hill’s most iconic enemy, Pyramid Head. With this in mind, we’re not convinced Konami is in any rush to make any significant announcements for the series.

Do you think the trademark renewal is a hint of bigger things to come? Do you even want a new Silent Hill at this point? Let us know down below.
