Capcom Increases Base Salaries For Japanese Staff By 30%

Recently, we reported that Bandai Namco increased the monthly earnings for its Japanese staff, and now Capcom will be following suit by raising the base salary of its Japanese staff by 30%.

As reported by VGC, the move will take effect from the 2022 fiscal year (so, now) and will also come with a new bonus scheme that’s more closely tied to the company’s business performance. The move comes ahead of an expected fifth consecutive year of record profits for the company and a ninth consecutive year of operating income growth, which Capcom will report as part of its 2021 fiscal year results in May.

Capcom has also reorganised its HR division in conjunction with the salary increase, with a view to increase the company’s training systems and grows its employee performance review structure. It is also facilitating an improved system to allow better communication between management and employees after the appointment of a new chief HR officer.

What does this all mean in terms of games, you ask? Well, the obvious theory is that we’re likely to see continued support and growth for Capcom’s core franchises, including Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Street Fighter. In fact, Capcom recently announced Street Fighter 6, and its major expansion for Monster Hunter Rise – titled Sunbreak – is due for release on June 30th.

How about new Mega Man game though, Capcom?
